Jobs to go as Aguri restructures

Super Aguri have admitted several jobs will go at their team as they bid to stave off financial insecurity heading into the 2008 Formula 1 season.

The team, led by Aguri Suzuki, have come on leaps and bounds since their last minute debut in 2006, scoring a total of four points this year to finish ninth in the constructor standings.

However, they have not been able to stay far away from the rumours that they need financial stability if they are remain in the sport. Although the scale of the problem is not apparent, up to 30 people are set to lose their jobs at Leafield as part of a restructuring plan.

"We have said all year we are a small team,” Aguri spokeswoman Emma Bearpark told the Oxford Mail, the local paper for the Leafield area. “We are beginning our third year now and all year we have said we required extra funding.

“What we are doing now is unfortunate. We hope that the people identified are able to get jobs in other parts of the company or the Formula 1 industry."

Aguri are hoping to find the employees places at the nearby based Honda team, with whom they share an engine supply.
