Liuzzi 'positive' despite seeing red

Vitantonio Liuzzi was praised for his efforts on a difficult third day of testing for the Force India team, having helped provide some useful information between red flag stoppages.

The Italian, who hopes to race with the team next season after losing his ride at Toro Rosso, partnered Ralf Schumacher on day three of the final group test of the season, at Jerez, and endured a similarly frustrating day with interruptions both on and off the track, but his feedback and speed over shorter runs has been welcomed by the team as it moves into a fourth and final day on Friday.

"It was positive and I am happy with the work we did," Liuzzi commented, having been able to complete different aspects of his programme to Schumacher, "Unfortunately, there were a lot of red flags, so we couldn't run our second set of tyres to the full extent. But I am happy with the car's balance and the way we worked together. We did some long runs and didn't find a perfect set-up so, for sure, we have a lot of work to do on the car. I felt I did the maximum though."

Liuzzi was recalled to the team's testing strength, along with Christian Klien, after excelling at the last outing in Barcelona, and again provided the engineers with useful data after completing 76 laps with a best time of 1min 21.194secs.

"Overall, it was a difficult day with several stoppages, but this morning was quite productive," technical director James Key reported, "Tonio got a fair few laps in and gave some good feedback, which seemed to take the car in the right direction. His shorter runs were consistent and, once again, it has been a very useful day of feedback for the team from experienced drivers."
