SAF1 denies Agag deal

The Super Aguri F1 team has denied weekend rumours suggesting that it had sold a stake to Spanish businessman Alejandro Agag in an effort to sure up its future.

Germany's Auto Bild reported that Agag had purchased as much as 50 per cent of the Leafield-based team, which struggled through to the end of 2007 following problems with title sponsor SS United. Agag, who has interest in Adrian Campos' eponymous GP2 team, was first linked with SAF1 in August last year, but the trail appeared to have gone cold until the weekend's reports surfaced.

The rumours suggested that Agag's involvement with Super Aguri may mean the end of Anthony Davidson's F1 ambitions, but the team insists that no deal has been struck.

"We have had no recent dialogue or ongoing relationship with Alejandro Agag," managing director Daniel Audetto told Crash.net when contacted about the story.

Super Aguri is slated to miss this week's Valencia group test as it continues its preparations for 2008 back at base, and has yet to confirm either a launch date or its 2008 driver line-up.
