`Delighted` Glock sees faith in Toyota pay off.

Just a fortnight on from his second hefty shunt of the 2008 Formula 1 season in front of his home fans at Hockenheim, Timo Glock has rebounded with a vengeance in Budapest, by putting his Toyota a career-high fifth on the starting grid for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old has been fast all weekend around the demanding Hungaroring circuit. Against the general grain of the season, he has regularly seemed to have the upper hand over more experienced team-mate Jarno Trulli in Hungary, lapping sixth-quickest in the opening practice session and a superb third on Saturday morning ahead of qualifying.

He then stunned the grand prix fraternity by setting the fourth-fastest time in Q1 and second in Q2 – ahead of eventual pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton – before going on to seal a third row starting position. Now, he hopes, with a change of luck, he may just be able to convert that into his second points-scoring finish of the campaign to boot.

“That was a very good qualifying session for me,” the reigning GP2 Series Champion enthused, “and I'm obviously delighted. We made a good start in first practice yesterday. The team did a good job overnight and we made the right choice over set-up.

“It wasn't easy today because we had a very tight choice over tyres, so we had to make a close decision for every lap, but in the end my engineers stayed cool and got it right. In Q2 the car felt perfect, then on the very last lap it was a bit trickier again because the tyres didn't behave quite as well, but I'm happy with P5.

“We are in a great situation for tomorrow. It's good for all of us, and after Hockenheim this is the perfect answer for the faith I have in the whole team.”

Trulli, for his part, professed himself pleased for his team-mate, but frustrated at not having been able to better ninth place himself – the legacy of grip and balance issues throughout the day.

“I'm glad to be in the top ten,” the Italian affirmed of his ninth appearance in the final Q3 shoot-out in eleven races this year, “but that was a difficult qualifying session and P9 is disappointing.

“Since this morning I have struggled for grip and balance, and unfortunately we weren't able to find the answers in time. I had the same problems in qualifying, so we will have to investigate that tonight.

I am glad to see Timo Glock wasn''t that fazed by his shunt in Germany. He did very well in qualifying. It will be nice to see if his efforts pay off.
