Dennis: Suggestions I`ll quit `a fabrication`.

Ron Dennis has hit out at media suggestions that he is set to take a back seat role at McLaren in the near future, insisting that he has not given any interviews in weeks.

It was claimed by Spanish newspaper El Pais over the weekend of the inaugural European Grand Prix in Valencia that in the wake of his turbulent 2007 campaign in the top flight – taking in Formula 1's now infamous espionage scandal, a distinctly turbulent relationship with double world champion Fernando Alonso and the breakdown of his marriage – the Woking-based outfit's team principal was now considering stepping back from the front line within the squad [see separate story – click here].

The 61-year-old, however, has since spoken out to deny ever making any such comments, as speculation over his future continues to rumble on.

“I haven't spoken to any member of the press for three weeks,” he told PA Sport. “It's just a complete fabrication, an absolute fabrication.

“I don't know where the story has come from, but I haven't spoken to anybody for weeks.”

The man is single so he has even more time to spend on F1 now. And they think he would take a step back. I think the media is just printing papers with whatever they can think of or ..... Alonso ...... Spanish paper ...... Nah only kidding.
