Raikkonen takes over at Mugello.

While the majority of the Formula One grid was pounding the tarmac at Jerez de la Frontera, Ferrari continued its private test on home soil in Italy, doubling its effort and wheeling out the big guns as Kimi Raikkonen took over from regular development pilot Luca Badoer at Mugello and Felipe Massa running at Fiorano.

The weather looked more kindly on the Scuderia than it did on its rivals, with comfortable temperatures being accompanied by day-long sunshine, allowing Raikkonen to work through the prescribed programme of developments, aimed both at the culmination of this year's world championship and the 2009 campaign.

The Finn completed 79 laps of the Tuscan circuit on the second of three planned days, continuing the development of new aerodynamic solutions and working on finding the best set-up for the car, both of which Badoer had begun on day one. The world champion's best time was a 1min 21.079secs, fractionally slower than that which his Italian team-mate had managed on Wednesday.

Massa will take over from Raikkonen on the final day at Mugello today [Friday], but busied himself at Fiorano while the Finn was testing the latest developments. The Brazilian, who remains the Prancing Horse's best hope of retaining the F1 world championship, carried out the shakedown of the cars that the Scuderia will use in the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix in ten days' time.

i agree rich ard it does look as though ferrari are trying to keep them both apart when away from the track but it could also be that they can test twice as much and get varying track data from different tracks/conditions, which hopefully would give them data from two tracks to compare.
