Abu Dhabi circuit to feature in exhibition.

The Yas Marina Circuit, which will host the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when the country makes if Formula One debut next season, has been made the subject of a unique art exhibition.

The display, which will remain at the Emirates Palace until the end of November, features a selection of images of the circuit's facilities which have been transformed into pieces of art.

“The Yas Marina Circuit represents a significant investment in leading edge sporting infrastructure," explained Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management chairman His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, "It is a state-of-the-art piece of engineering, design and construction. The circuit and its surrounding footprint join an expanding collection of home-grown initiatives that will positively change the shape of Abu Dhabi in the months and years ahead. It has therefore been conceived, designed, and is currently being built according to the particular needs and features of the city in which it will belong.”

ADMM CEO - and the project's creative director - Philippe Gurdjian guided guests, including the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, through distinctive features of a track that is set to become the next new venue on the F1 calendar, as the exhibition opened on Tuesday.

Highlights of the exhibition include many features yet to be realised by the ongoing circuit groundworks, including the stunning Yas Marina Hotel, which will have the track running right through it; the Sun Tower, which stands 60 metres above the track to allow VIP guests a perfect view of the action; and the marina itself, which will feature its own yacht club as the venue attempts to recreate a piece of Monaco in the Gulf region.

“Yas Marina Circuit took over my life more than a year ago, and now I'm very proud that Abu Dhabi can present one of the most sophisticated F1 race tracks in the world," Gurdjian commented, "A hotel which spans the track, a marina with a beautiful yacht club, and with grandstands which are 100 per cent completely covered – this has never been seen before.”

The circuit is being developed by Aldar Properties as part of the overall development of Yas Island, and guests at the opening of the exhibition were able to see an interactive scale model of the layout.

In addition to showing the F1 track and its iconic landmarks, the model also highlighted its other facilities, including the planned kart track, dragstrip, business park, team buildings and all the proposed grandstands.

“The Yas Marina Circuit is a cornerstone of the development of Yas Island," Aldar Properties chairman Ahmed Al Sayegh admitted, "The unique tourist destination will complement scores of residential, business, retail, and other community-oriented projects that will contribute to Abu Dhabi's long-term development. The Yas Marina Circuit is a particularly exciting project for Aldar to deliver, because of its global significance and its innovative and intricate design.”
