Coulthard confirmed for Race of Champions.

This weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix might be David Coulthard's final competitive appearance in a Formula One car, but the Scot will not be hanging up his helmet entirely after the conclusion of action at Interlagos.

The 13-time grand prix winner will instead keep his competitive instincts honed to race for Britain alongside Jenson Button and Andy Priaulx at this year's Race of Champions at Wembley, contesting both the team and individual portions of the unique event scheduled for Sunday 14 December.

Coulthard, who was a fixture in the Scottish team that appeared at recent RoC events, will don the colours of Team F1 Racing Great Britain as organisers keep their options open with regard to a possible team-mate. Coulthard had partnered the late Colin McRae in his first appearances in the competition, in Paris, and was joined by the WRC champion's younger brother, Alistair, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed McRae Sr's life last year.

"I've enjoyed coming to the Race of Champions immensely for the last few years,” Coulthard said, “After a long, hard season, it's great to be able to kick back with an event that's so much fun.

"Without the pressure of the F1 season, we can really relax and have fun with our driving, and that can only mean a great spectacle for the fans, so it's also a chance for us to give something back to them for their support.”

The established pairing of Button and Priaulx will race for Team Autosport Great Britain, as the UK drivers face up to an all-star field that already features seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher and four-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb, who could be a five-time titleist by the time the event takes place.

”David has been a great competitor and animator in the last four years of the Race of Champions, and everybody is delighted he can make it again this year," event president Fredrik Johnsson said, "He is such a great personality and appreciated by fans and fellow competitors alike. Although David has now decided to retire from F1, we sincerely hope that he will continue to compete in the Race of Champions for many years to come!”

DC will also face opposition from the likes of eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss, nine-time X Games gold medallist - and RoC favourite - Travis Pastrana and NASCAR frontrunner Carl Edwards, as well as double DTM and Race of Champions kingpin Mattias Ekström, as well as two drivers he's very familiar with from his 'day job, current Red Bull Racing team-mate Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, the man replacing him at RBR next season.
