`Close to zero` chance of Ferrari supplying Honda.

Still without a new owner in place for the 2009 Formula 1 campaign, Honda has suffered a further blow after Ferrari seemed to back-track on its earlier suggestion that it may be willing to provide the beleaguered Brackley-based outfit with customer powerplants.

Earlier this month, Honda F1 team principal Ross Brawn revealed that he had 'contacted Ferrari' regarding a potential engine supply this season, and the following day a spokesman for the Scuderia confirmed that a deal was a possibility [see separate story – click here].

Speaking at today's launch of the new F60 in Mugello, however, the Maranello-based concern's team principal Stefano Domenicali seemed to counter earlier claims by insisting 'the chance of us supplying engines to Honda is close to zero', international news agency Reuters reports.

That leaves Honda with still no buyer and no engine supply, and the season curtain-raising Australian Grand Prix Down Under in Melbourne fast approaching on 29 March.
