Stoffel Vandoorne has been hit with a double dose of grid drops as Honda is forced to change his MGU-H which has landed the McLaren driver with a further 25-place grid penalty to add to his five-place penalty from earlier in the United States GP race weekend.

Vandoorne had been set to start from 14th on the grid due to his earlier engine penalty with a five-place drop for an eighth ICE (internal combustion engine) which was confirmed before FP1 at the Circuit of the Americas.

After qualifying Honda has detected an issue with his MGU-H unit and opted to change the component, moving on to his 11th of the year, which lands him a further 25-place drop to raise his total to 30 – which drops Vandoorne to the back of the grid.
