Webber secures his first win of F1 2010 in Barcelona

Massa also had problems and a damaged front wing hampered his efforts in his Ferrari F10, not that the Brazilian ever looked likely to match the kind of result his team-mate achieved.

Adrian Sutil secured more points for Force India and held off Robert Kubica's Renault to claim seventh, followed by Rubens Barrichello and Jaime Alguersuari, the latter ensuring two point-scorers for Spain.

Barrichello's efforts were especially noteworthy after he had a dire qualifying session on Saturday and was knocked out in Q1. He fought his way up from 18th though in his Williams, and was rewarded with two points.

Further down the order, Vitaly Petrov was just outside the points in eleventh, while Kamui Kobayashi and Nico Rosberg came in twelfth and thirteenth, neither having a very good afternoon.

Hamilton and Liuzzi were classified 14th and 15th and a lap down, despite both stopping late on, with Nico Hulkenberg, Jarno Trulli, Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi filling positions 16 to 19. Trulli was the top new team runner home for Lotus, ahead of the two Virgin cars.

In terms of retirements, five runners were not classified. Heikki Kovalainen was first out, failing to even start in his Lotus due to gearbox problems. Bruno Senna didn't last long either and spun out at turn 4 on the opening lap. He was later joined by his Hispania team-mate, Karun Chandhok as well as Sauber's Pedro de la Rosa and Sebastien Buemi's Toro Rosso.
