I agree with most here. What is the point of having new teams for the sake of it, if they're going to be 6 or 8 seconds off the pace? Ok, that will test the faster drivers' overtaking nous when lapping the slower cars - and it adds to the excitement for fans.
But from a technical/safety point of view, how can a team be allowed into a race weekend without having tested at all? I mean, do the drivers know how the car is going to behave? Do the engineers not need initial feedback in order to make important changes and tweaks? And will they be able to do ALL that in-between Friday and Saturday's practice sessions?
And how bad will F1 look if the FIA is forced to disqualify really slooow teams?
