Richard. When you said, "no pun intended" I thought you were calling me queer, I had to re-read. Anyway, How about this idea? The fuel tank is a balloon enclosed within a sealed cylinder with a small amount of fluid between the two. When the tank is full, the fluid is forced into a hydraulic system that raises the car. As the fuel is used, the fluid returns to its void between the tank and the cylinder, thus lowering the car.
