KGBVD: "No one watch Le Mans to cheer on a Courage, they cheer the Audis, Ferraris and Peugeots. Its relevance that is important these days."
So why do people go to F1 to cheer the Mclarens, the Williams, the Red Bulls? How many people see a Coswroth-powered car do well at an F1 race and then go out and buy a Coswroth powered people carrier?
And if motor racing is such a good way for car manufacturers to develop new technology, why don't they take part all the time, and why do they pull out so quickly when they aren't winning? Could it be that its just about marketing for them, same as it was for Beneton, same as it is for Santandar and RBS? Sure, some innovations come out of motor racing, but I can't see an F-duct and adjustable wings on a family saloon anytime soon.
