CJD, we will not be back in the eighty’s (BMW M12/13, if we do most of the current drivers will be screaming the cars are un-drivable. Les Wright (Australia) restored a Benetton B 186 chassis number 5 complete with its BMW 1.5l turbo engine and he reports a dynamometer output reading of 802HP @ 9700RPM he also reports a very small power band, the engine goes from 450 to 800HP in about 1000RPM. May be our friend Commodore S can shed some more information on this fantastic project. Hope Richard will keep in touch/read all this on his laptop while in RBR country. HAIRPIN, up to now there is only an outline statement from the FIA the final rules are still to be finalized, the outline says, the new engine specification (2013) will be four cylinder 1.6l turbo with high pressure gasoline direct injection up to 500 BAR with a max of 12K RPM. The current rules allow a fuel pressure of 100 BAR max and only an indirect (port) injection system.
