The big difference with this new turbo formula is that the engines will be rpm limited - they will also have to use standard fuel - the 1500cc turbo engines ran on special brews loaded with all sorts of chemicals. The horsepower will be well down on the previous engines - the old turbo engines could produce well over 1000bhp in qualifying trim. The noise will be nothing inspiring - I have heard Indycar turbo engines and they sounded dull - the turbo takes energy out of the exhaust gases and quietens the noise.I thought F1 was trying to cut costs - a 1600 turbo engine with KERS is going to cost a lot more than a normally aspirated V8,it will probably be more unreliable as it will be more highly stressed and will have to dissipate more heat.I think this engine formula is a joke.
