3rd at the start of the season was good and I hoped we would have seen good things coming as the season progressed.... however... he only has 2 points more than someone who has to pay for their drive, I can see why Renault are not happy... he was employed to lead the team, develop the car etc..
2 points ahead of a relative rookie paydriver is not exactly leading... nor is driving up the back of Kobyashi or Buemi (granted they were racing incidents), however when your quali pace isn't good and you are spending most of your time playing catch up... or being stuck behind kovy at the Hungaroring before the car sets alight... you can't help but see why Boulier is unhappy.
If he is to develop the car... why have they gone from podium contenders to struggling to stay ahead of Force India? He is a steady driver but considering he is being paid and only just out-performing a pay-driver... why not take a shot at
