Sunny....there is still one of the supercharged BRM's running, what a beautiful piece of engineering that was ahead of the materials available at the time, and what a wonderful sound!!
I do think however that motorcycle engines have always been more technically daring and push the limits.
ie: Hondas 500cc oval piston 8 valves per cylinder, Suzuki's 50cc triple two stroke!! that had the highest output per litre of any normally aspirated engine.Hondas 6cylinder 250cc 4 stroke.
Engines developed in an age when there was no restrictions.....these make F1 engines seem almost boring
