I remember tyre testing at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Getting in and watching 3 or 4 days of these cars pounding round.
Senna would dominate his team when it came to testing because he knew his input was the most important for direction.
His test drivers just pounded round for reliability testing.
So Mclaren have effectively admitted that their systems are good enough to replace testing, good for them. And Yet Lewis still wanted to be driving this week, Button couldn't be bothered. Are we expected to believe that Button really has the drive to be the best.
Mugello was used as a test track by Ferrari because of high speed corners which are missing at Fiorano, this way they benefited from both tracks.
Look at F1 now, every decision is formed by what it means to the TV audience.
The only real free to air TV is qualifying and the race.
We used to get 3 sessions on a Friday, one which was qualifying, 3 again on Saturday with qualifying 2, and warm up then the race,
They love pit stops
