decko - No one is saying that he didn't back the field up, the point is that he wasn't doing it expressly to help Vettel.
It's obvious to everyone that he was going slower at that stage, however we all know that the cars need to go through a fuel saving stint in a GP to even get to the chequered flag, not to mention that on a one-stop strategy (ESPECIALLY in 2012) you would most certainly need to be cognisant of tyre degradation.
Backing up the field doesn't automatically mean it was to help Vettel. Honestly, I just can't see Webber helping him. Remember the "Maintain the gap" call?
