Originally, VAG's excuse was that F1 holds no relevance. That even held up after the purchase of Porsche (as Porsche is a supercar, but not really a Balls-to-the-wall piece of tech like the Ferrari's). Even when Audi launched the R8, Audi are still predominantly an 'everyday' car manufacturer. But, BUT THEN THEY ACQUIRED LAMBORGHINI!!! Now, you have the names of Lambo and Bugatti and Porsche in the bag... HOW IS F1 NO LONGER JUSTIFIED?!?!?!

Speaking of gearboxes, the DSG box is amazing in itself when you see the cars it's in. That would be at home in a Ferrari.
BUT, I think, IF Sauber are talking to VW, this won't bare fruit before the V6, twin turbo times come.
