Indy car style rear bumpers are ugly, and there have been several cases of drivers bumping the driver in front, as the risk of a launch is less. If i wanted to watch this I would watch Nascar, which i don't. I don't think this is a good solution and I do not enjoy watching the Indy cars anymore. I hope F1 avoids a similar decision of enclosing cockpits or wheels. Open wheel racing is open wheel racing. The risks are far less than at any time in the past, and while there will be another fatality one day, the sport will and perhaps should have an element of risk. Frank Williams once said a F1 car should look fearful and give you shivers. I hope they continue to pursue safety measures but leave the cockpits and wheels open.
