mixed feelings on this one. as a brit who supports mclaren i'm sad to see a british driver leave the team. i'm also a little disappointed in hamilton... he's always said he values titles more than financial gain. well unless he knows something we don't (and there is always a real possibility that merc gp have some amazing plans for the future) merc gp are not a winning team and as things stand have no chance of winning the title next year.
now the one unknown on the horizon are the 2014 reg changes and the fact that mclaren will then have to pay for engines from merc or whoever? this will come out of their total budget so they'll be less for developing the rest of the car. maybe hamilton feels or has some insight that this change in circumstance will have a bigger effect than we (joe public) realise and so merc gp is the better bet long term. i really hope he hasn't gone there just for financial reasons.
anyway i wish him the best of luck. imho he and alonso are the 2 best drivers...
