19k. the "sound" of v8s in f1 is unique? how long have you followed f1 or any motorsport. until the ford dfv, and even during its reign, there were other engine configurations, with most true afficianados saying that the v/flat 12s or v16 were the most memorable. and these were screamers. ford financed v8 as it was their forte in the states. eventually, courtesy of renault, we got the 4 and 6 turbos, and again many love the high pitched howl of these. going back to v6 (courtesy of ferrari, fia/bernie wanted v4) heralds a new era of sound. i admit i have never heard a runaway v6 turbo lawnmower, but have you heard the v6 turbo f1 engine? i doubt it, but if you enjoy f1, then you will accept it and learn to live with it. otherwise, you will just have to turn down the sound on your tv.
