I would have imagined that NK didn't have time to have driven off the track, I don't think he's so stupid that he wouldn't have thought of that. If there was any way he could have prevented the crash, I'm sure he would have, but it probably happened so quickly it ws impossible to do anything. Also, with no steering, how could he possibly drive off the track. Common sense, the real common sense, says it's not possible to steer a car when the steering has failed! It is very fortunate that nobody was hurt though.
