AFAIK Loeb lost championship due to co-pilot's error and McRae split with his co-pilot after going off road - it just happens, such is a nature of this sport. Please, take into account one thing: KUBICA WASN'T REALLY PUSHING!! Yes, he took it reasonably easy. Especially on those last stages. Winning the rally was just a bonus, more important was gaining experience with the car and kind of rehabilitation. Slowing down to admire the views, would give him nothing useful, just waist of time. Non of this matter, since no matter who you are, if you get 5 left instead of 3 left (about 50km/h difference) on a damp road you're out (in McRae case it was just a confusion between 2 and 3!)
