Reasonably so, because he's the young prodigy they're hanging their hat on, and Webber is in the twilight of his career.
If Webber wasn't happy at Red Bull, he wouldn't have signed another contract with them. I think it's a matter of making sure he has the most competitive package under him on race day, regardless of the politics in the team. Next season, if he's able to achieve the kind of consistency throughout the season that he started 2012 with - and fix his starts - I think he has a chance to make one last run at a WDC. I'd really like to see him end his F1 career on a high note, he's been my favorite driver on the grid for years now.
As for driving a damaged car...shoot, Webber spent half of 2012 without KERS working in his car, I'd wager.
