Fangio is not the only WDC with more than one team. Schumacher at Renault and Ferrari is one and strangely, he changed cars to a hopeless team that hadn't won a WCC for 20 years. Didn't do him much harm in the long run
On bikes, Rossi won on Honda and won on Yamaha. Then he went to Ducati (champion constructor at the time) and the world fell out his bottom. So changing teams doesn't necessarily help.
I think the test of Vettel (and many other drivers) will be the 2014 season when the next major rule changes apply. One car is almost certain to start off with an advantage over the others. Hamilton, I guess, assumes that will be Merc, Vettel's money is on RBR and Alonso's is on Ferrari. Things could be very different in 2015 though!
