"see how he might react to, essentially, not having Adrian Newey at the helm." Yes, yes. This is a variant of the "How would Jose Mourinho do if he was managing QPR?" type of question. In that vein, allow me to wonder how Newey would get on if he was working for Caterham and had Petrov and Pic driving his cars. Significantly worse than how he'd get on if he was working for McLaren and had Kimi driving his cars, I'm sure. And we know how that turned out - not a lot of magic in evidence. It's a whole lot easier to be a genius car designer when you have the likes of Mansell and Prost and Vettel driving your cars.
