The attendance and viewing figures for the race showed it held up well against NASCAR - no problem there.
I really doubt football (or should I say Colonial Hand Egg) fans share the same demographic as F1 fans, plus the game clashes with qualifying, not the actual race - no problem there.
So really, the concern is Austin doesn't have enough space to cover the visitors? Says who? The hoteliers? The bars? The restaurants? I would've thought with the economy the way it is the entirety of Austin would relish the opportunity to sell their goods to an additional 200,000+ people - just make sure there's enough stock to feed everybody and pay enough overtime for staff to cover.
