Almost everybody here (well, regularly here) knows that and yes of course they evaluated Di Resta for a drive at Mercedes AMG GP. Sadly for him though he got beaten two times by two different teammates so they chose Hamilton instead. In fact I think Sutil, who also drove Mercedes powered F3s, might have been closer to a seat at Merc in 2010 but then MSC decided to have his comeback.
As for DTM vs V8...I think DTM is more comparable to GT500. V8s are tough cars who can stand a little bump and grind while DTM cars desintegrate in case of anything more than the mildest of contact.
Anyway there are rumors going around that DTM and GT500 might team up to have a good old fashioned German-Japanese allience which this time may result in an epic championship.
