John O says: "Alonso pole positions 22- Fastest laps 19 Those stats make Alonso look rather slow as well. 22 poles and 19 fastest laps in 197 starts is not the stuff of legendary speed." Those stats make Alonso look rather slow.. really? -- 'Zo has more poles than Kimi Raikkonen.. yet, we are to be impressed with Jenson Button's 8 poles and 8 fastest laps in 228 starts?? I'm sorry but that is not close to being a comparable speed-stat to Fernando Alonso's -- as i mentioned I think it is the job of a top driver to get himself into competitive equipment and Button (for the bulk of his career) failed at that -- which is why i compared him to Mark Webber who has also spent a comparable amt. of time in uncompetitive machinery -- yet, Webber's speed-stats make Button look like a tortoise from the Galapagos islands.
