What, you mean cars that happen to be powered by a Renault and were penned by one of the sports greatest ever designers trounced the rest?
Todays engines are so close in terms of performance that the advantages and disadvantages of the units don't play a massive role. Yeah, the Renault engines have a friendlier torque curve, but the Merc's have more power. Depending on the circuit you could want either. And for the second time, I didn't insinuate that the Merc is any more "reliable" than other engines, rather that it's the powerplant every team seems to want. Remember even RBR were chasing Mercedes until McLaren veto'd it.
