That 'supposedly poor country' of Brazil is 7th in the world in terms of GDP and that puts it above poorer countries such as the UK, France, Italy, South Korea, Australia and Saudi Arabia. (IMF figures).
The 'world recession' is also a bit of a misnomer as places such as SE Asia and China are certainly not in recession. It is only really the US and Europe that is struggling with recession after the western banking fiasco.
There are still a huge number of very wealthy people in virtually all countries who could fund teams/drivers if they wanted. Problem is, most are so greedy they would prefer to buy their children ludicrously lavish houses rather than support the sport that made then a fortune.
