superdowg. to the contrary. the first races were on public roads, racing from point to point. later these became laps of a road course. spa or le mans are examples which basically continue. street racing was confined to monaco. i cannot recollect any other street circuit. the likes of mola was in a park. airfield circuits were the first specific tracks. i am not sure when the first ground up track was built, but it is in modern history.
