2012 was the season that Schu should have beeten Rosberg - he out qualified him enough times and put the car up the grid when it didn't deserve to be that high (USA for example).
The first 7 races of the season were horrible to watch as he should of had a lot more than 1 point to his name i.e. DNF from 3rd in Australia, shoved off by Grosjan in Malaysia and losing out on 2nd in China... what might have been :(
Anyway, money does help - it's amazing how much of a difference it makes (and as a competitor, I hate it because I don't have that luxury! :P )
But Renault managed to win the title in 2005/2006 with much smaller budgets than Ferrari and possibly McLaren. It is harder but still dooable for a team like Mercedes.. if you had a budget like Sauber, HRT or Marussia, then you need a miracle!
