He was supposed to beat Perez this year, and have more highlights.
He has had 3 years at the team compared to only 2 for Perez. Perez even almost won a race.
Kamui is almost everybody's favorite, but when you run a team you only have to look at Williams to also realize what could happen if you don't make business decisions. So if 2 drivers are somewhat equal you almost have to take the one that adds to your bottom line. Add to that that Sergio is younger and can do just as good work or better.
Alonso is believed to be the best driver in F1, yet he is the biggest pay driver in the sport. That says a lot.
