Have to disagree with him, I think the depth of talent on the F1 grid today is greater than it normally was in the past. There will be five current or former world champions starting in 2013. I agree with Martin Whitmarsh - "The strength and depth of the grid in terms of drivers and teams in my view, casting back over 24 years personally, is stronger than it's ever been."
There have always been pay-drivers, and the smaller teams could not exist without them. There is not currently more of them than usual.
