Don't forget, Maldonado had big bucks invested in the team, so I'd say he had a slightly better car than Senna (besides the more testing he had). And in 2011 he only came to Renault in the second part for the year, with a lot less testing than the rest of the team.
I'd give him the chance, he had consistency all year round.
