DRS and Pireli tyres are a symptom of the problem and not the problem themselves. The problem is the forced equality of machinery which is making F1 another spec series. But I'd guess that the majority of F1 fans WANT that forced equality - in fact they don't feel it goes far enough. Look at all the people bleating about how supposedly "dominant" the Red Bull cars are. The purpose of DRS and the Pirelli tyres is to put back some of the variability which was lost when the teams were restricted from innovating with their cars. Of course if you allow more innovation you have to accept that you will sometimes have cars like the MP4/4 or FW14B.
