He may never had had a competitive car, but then again Narain has never given even a remote impression of outperforming his machinery like Glock and Kovalainen these past couple of years. Taking a rookie pay driver is one thing, as they may go on to have a great career, but taking somebody whose mediocrity has been evident throughout his F1 career would be unforgivable - especially at the expense of someone as talented as Bianchi!
