g o. had to scroll back to see what your question was. sorry cannot answer your question, but i have referred to these special non-race tyres in relation to buttons times. it was a hard tyre that was faster than the softs! maybe a softer sidewall? but the surface at jerez was also unusually abrasive. abrasion means grip, so maybe that is why the hard tyre was acting like a soft? as i said, i havent seen what massa or bianchi were on, as even the markings were disguised. dont forget also , that cars did not need to be in race trim. lotus for example, was using drs over the whole track, something that is not allowed in quali or practice this year, AND the rev limiters could be turned off! that is why these testing times are basically irrelevant.
