I doubt the new "green" technology has much to do with Honda's interests in F1. Like Toyota, they were performing badly and both abandoned the sport as they have done in the past. Both are "fair weather" competitors. That said, the economy is improving, sales are increasing, and both want back in, but only as an engine supplier. I think Honda want McLaren more than McLaren wants them, and I believe Toyota will be back in very soon as well. But both want to be with top teams.
