There was standing water on the track that I could see from my position. All drivers interviewed supported the postponement due to standing water. It is not the strength of the rain but the drainage that determines how safe a track is. Albert Park is a public road, its drainage is not as good as purpose built tracks and it has far less runoff on many corners. It is not just the aquaplaning of the tyres that are of concern but also the flat floorpans of the cars skimming across standing water. Believe it or not, the stewards and the driver representatives actually know more about safety and car racing than you guys ever will. I hope that hasn't dented your little egos too much. P.S. We had also just had ten days in a row where the air temp was above 32 degrees Celsius and the track surface over 60 degrees.
