With the McLaren being a dog, the wet weather would be their best chance of getting further up the grid and nullifying the competitions advantage.
Given Button's skill in the wet and changeable conditions, his agreement with the decision is HARDLY because he thinks it would be beneficial for him or McLaren.
Why don't you have a look at the Q1 results. Both McLaren drivers ahead of Hamilton in a car already seen to be 2-2.5 seconds per lap slower.
