My guess is that Alonso must have a water tight contract with Ferrari to remain the #1 driver and avoid the situation that he had with Hamilton and Raikkonen had with Massa (2008). So even if Massa is faster, Ferrari has no choice but support Alonso... especially since he's ahead in the standings (even if by Ferrari's own actions).
