gilles. bob has a point. a person can put in a very fast lap in quali, but neither he nor the car may be able to keep up that pace for a race distance. the starting tyre could be destroyed etc etc. i think that you would be unable to find a single race where even the fastest lap has been near the quali pace. yeah it helps if you can start at the front and then control the race, but if everybody did that, there would be no need for a race!
