You missed my point completely. 10 seconds behind in a race does not mean ten seconds slower as a driver. There are too many factors involved, from team orders to pit stops, to luck,
In Australia Alonso gained a huge advantage stopping when he did. It worked out for him. Maybe that was team orders maybe it was changing strategy on the fly to get clean track, I don't know. But it worked.
