Facts are... Team orders are now part of the sport. The drivers are contracted to drive on behalf of their team. In both situations today there was no gain to allowing the following driver to take over their team mates position. If either team had felt threatened by closing opposing cars they would have taken a different approach with their strategies and insisted the faster cars went through. It's all done bar the shouting now, hopefully with minimal effect on the remainder of the season. Fingers crossed.
