I agree Richard. Writing off McLaren hasn't been a smart thing to do historically. They went for a complete redesign because according to them the old design would have hit the end of it's development curve halfway through the season. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have the fastest car for the second half of the season or even earlier. Whitmarsh get's a lot of undeserved abuse here, but that is to be expected. He was chosen as the reason for Hamiltons failure to dominate F1 the way many seem to have hoped. People seem to forget that Since 2000 McLaren has developed a habit of losing championships despite having a fast car and good drivers. The years with Raikkonen spring to mind for example and those can hardly be blamed on Whitmarsh, though I'm sure some will try to do exactly that. I'm not saying he's a great team manager, but he isn't anywhere close to as bad as commentators here would have us believe.
